The Hampshire Biodiversity Information Centre (HBIC) is part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team offering a range of specialist environmental services to the County Council and other public authorities. HBIC brings together information on Hampshire’s natural environment and works with a wide range of partner organisations involved in the supply and use of biodiversity data.A highly motivated and organised individual is required to organise and undertake biological (mainly habitat) surveys and assessments to provide information on Hampshire’s biodiversity, to enable the County Council and HBIC’s partner organisations to fulfil their statutory obligations and environmental policies regarding stewardship of the environment and sustainable development.Applicants should have an appropriate degree or professional qualification; a good understanding of UK ecology, habitats, species and nature conservation practice; excellent botanical identification skills, particularly of the flora of southern England, experience of habitat survey and vegetation classification systems (including NVC and UKHab); and good IT skills including experience in biodiversity databases, GIS and Microsoft Office. Organised, self-motivated and reliable, you will possess excellent communication skills and have a keen eye for detail.
