1. Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.
2. Specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.

It’s an exciting time to join us at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a Band 6 Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurse to join us in our inpatient services and take on the role of Deputy Ward Manager.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking a confident individual who is keen to contribute to the delivery of high quality nursing care and service development. You should have a strong interest in working with patients with mental health needs and substantial experience of working in a challenging environment. You should have a high level of resilience and patience and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate a warm, patient-centred approach to care.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and engage in multi-disciplinary team working. You will be expected to facilitate and coordinate the delivery of a mental health service, taking a lead in, and supporting the ward teams with complex patient care, for those with mental health needs. You will have direct line management and supervision responsibilities providing support and leadership to junior staff whilst taking on the role of mentor/assessor as well as deputising for the ward manager as needed.

The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (now or in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role; e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 1st July 2024 – 31st December 2024.
The £7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
1. £3,000 after 2 months of employment (counted from start date with LSCFT)
2. £2,000 after 12 months
3. £2,000 after 24 months
PLEASE NOTE: This bonus scheme is subject to a Repayment Clause should the post holder leave this role within 6 months of commencing employment.

Education/Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RNMH)
* Preparation of mentors certificate, ENB 998, or equivalent
* Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge
* Thorough knowledge of the mental health act 1983
* An understanding of, and an ability to performance manage junior staff
* Ability to conduct management supervision
Experience
* Experience of team building and practice development
* Experience of working within mental health services at band 5
* Demonstrate knowledge and experience of quality and audit
Skills
* Excellent clinical intervention skills
