HEO Data Warden, Analysis Directorate Ministry of Justice Overview We have 2 HEO Data Warden roles in the Community Data Assurance team within the Analysis Directorate. We are looking to recruit 2 HEOs to the Community Data Assurance team, whose role it is to provide assurance to the business and key stakeholders on reducing reoffending and probation data which impacts the reported performance of the Probation Service. Minimum requirements to apply: Candidates must be able to show the relevant experience and skills and must meet the criteria for entry: HEO grade must meet at least one of the following: You possess a numerate degree or a degree that has an analytical, statistical or research element, with a 2:2 or above, or as a higher degree (e.g. MSc, PhD). Alternatively, you have significant experience evidencing use of data and/or analytical skills (outside of a part-completed Civil Service degree apprenticeship). Candidates will have the option of being based in the Leeds or London HQ offices (with flexible working arrangements available) or your nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office: see this map for more details. We will keep a merit list for a year for those who successfully pass the interview board but who are not offered a post. What youll do This role is within the Community Data Assurance (CDA) team, whose role it is to provide data assurance to the business and key stakeholders on reducing reoffending and probation data which impacts the reported performance of the Probation Service. Working with a range of stakeholders and the Head of Community Data Assurance, compile a detailed view of the data issues and a timeline for assurance activities. Performing in depth, accurate and timely assurance to provide confidence in the accuracy and quality of recorded data, highlighting issues which might impact service delivery and performance indicators. Ensure potential impacts and risks to data quality are clearly identified and communicated effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership, including by presenting results at data boards. Provide high quality outputs, visuals and innovative data trackers to highlight data assurance activities and issues. Provide support on responses to ad hoc data queries and Parliamentary questions. Deputise for SEOs in the team as appropriate. Who you are The following experience and skills will be required : Have a good working knowledge of data assurance, with the ability to apply their knowledge and skills to new problems. Experience of working with large datasets (particularly administrative data) and robust data skills, including the ability to assess data quality and identify the limitations of data. Have strong written, oral and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical data, concepts and practices to non-technical stakeholders. Manage stakeholder expectations over time and anticipate future needs, dealing constructively with challenges and where appropriate adapting work programmes where requirements / circumstances change. Take responsibility for their area of work, balancing resources, quality, timeliness of outputs including ensuring adherence to relevant standards. Demonstrate leadership of their area, guiding the development of those they manage, acting as a technical mentor / coach, prioritising and delegating tasks in line with organisational objectives. The following experience and skills are desirable : Experience working with probation data. Experience with data manipulation tools such as Excel, R, SQL and reporting tools such as Business Objects desirable. Ability to use structured project management techniques, i.e. PRINCE 2 or equivalent. Selection Process There will be an initial sift of applicants through comparing submitted evidence against the Who you are bullets. We will be using a mixture of methods to assess your abilities, strengths, experience, technical skills, anSd behaviours.
