Our inaugural residential home is a three-bedroom property in Rossendale, designed to provide exceptional care and support for children and young people. This is a unique opportunity to join a new venture from the ground up and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Registered Manager, you will:
· Ofsted Registration & Compliance:
· Lead the registration process with Ofsted, including the completion of SC1 and SC2 forms.
· Ensure all aspects of the homes setup and operation comply with Ofsted standards and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
· Develop and maintain the Statement of Purpose and the Children’s Guide, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.
· Support the start-up phase of the home, ensuring readiness for inspection and registration.
· Operational Management:
· Oversee the successful opening and ongoing management of the home.
· Implement and regularly update comprehensive policies and procedures covering all aspects of care, including safeguarding, behaviour management, health and safety, and missing child protocols.
· Develop and implement strategies to achieve and maintain an “Outstanding” Ofsted rating.
· Team Leadership & Safer Recruitment:
· Lead the safer recruitment of staff, ensuring all team members meet safer recruitment guidelines.
· Provide effective leadership, supervision, and support to the staff team, ensuring continuous professional development and adherence to best practices.
· Promote a strong, child-centered culture of care.
· Care Planning & Safeguarding:
· Develop tailored care plans to meet each child’s individual needs.
· Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, responsible for implementing and overseeing robust safeguarding policies and procedures to protect children from harm.
· Ensure all safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and in line with statutory guidance.
· Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
· Implement a quality assurance framework to monitor, evaluate, and improve the homes performance, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained.
· Conduct regular health and safety assessments, ensuring that the home complies with all relevant legislation and provides a safe environment for children and staff.
· Financial Management:
· Oversee the homes budget, ensuring financial resources are managed effectively and in accordance with organizational policies.
· Develop robust business and financial plans that demonstrate the homes viability and sustainability, including detailed budgeting and resource allocation.
· Engagement with External Agencies:
· Liaise effectively with external agencies, including local authorities, healthcare providers, and educational institutions, to promote the well-being and development of the children.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Experience:
· Proven track record of successfully opening a children’s home and leading it through the Ofsted registration process.
· Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
Qualifications:
· Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) - Essential.
· A solid understanding of safer recruitment practices and safeguarding.
Skills:
· Excellent leadership and management skills to inspire and motivate a team.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with children, staff, and stakeholders.
Other Requirements:
· Enhanced DBS clearance.
· Full UK driving license.
