SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

As an R&D Lab Assistant in R&D, you will assist the chemists in developing and maintaining products by making, testing, and evaluating paint/binder/raw materials to contribute to reaching the goals of the R&D plan. You will be part of a professional and vibrant environment, and your workplace will be in our state-of-the-art Intumescent Research and Development Laboratory located in our UK site in Flixborough.
Jotun’s global R&D activities on Intumescent Coatings are centred in our state-of-the-art laboratory in Flixborough, UK, with five supporting regional laboratories around the world.
It is, therefore, a pleasure to announce a permanent, full-time position has become available as an R&D Lab Assistant. There is also a possibility of this role being an apprenticeship for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare and test the department's products in accordance with request and instructions from chemist.
* Assist the chemist in making, testing and evaluating paint/binder/raw material according to given procedures.
* Report results continuously to ensure that stakeholders are informed.
* Knowledge and use of necessary safety equipment as described and to take into consideration general safety, this includes being able to understand content and the meaning of safety data sheets.
* Attend to the daily order in the laboratory so that the work space is tidy, safe and pleasant.
* Ensure that the necessary raw materials, packaging and other laboratory equipment are available to ensure an effective work environment.
* Carry out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
* Vocational Certificate (preferable).
* English proficiency – must be fluent.
