Role overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Insights Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing relevant market/ consumer data and generating actionable insights to support both a category management process and mapping process across various categories and markets. This role involves significant market data knowledge combined with collaborating with various departments to understand their analytical needs and provide data solutions that drive strategic initiatives.
Ideal candidate should be able to collect, analyse and present Market and Category performance data, Market Share and Sales performance, Consumer Profile insights, In-store Footfall Traffic, Merchandising Effectiveness, Promotional Campaign results, Product Information, Brand Perception and Pricing/Profitability data.
Insights Analyst Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Category and Market Definition:
• Define the scope and structure of product categories and markets based on consumer perspectives.
• Source data and develop an attribute based interrogation system.
• Research and analyse customer buying and preference behaviour, market trends, and product similarities.
• Identify competing and complementary products within categories and markets.
2. Category and Market Role:
• Determine the role of products within the broader category and market.
• Position products in line with Client brief, to attract targeted customer segments.
• Influence marketing and shelf placement strategies.
3. Category and Market Assessment:
• Evaluate current market performance of products within the category and by retail sector and retailer.
• Analyse sales data, customer reviews, and competitor performance.
• Gather insights into market trends and customer behaviour.
4. Category and Market Performance Targets:
• Set specific, measurable objectives for category and market performance, including propensity to purchase, sales volume / value and market share.
• Define benchmarks for customer satisfaction and product reviews.
5. Category and Market Strategies:
• Develop strategies to achieve performance targets through product assortment, pricing, promotion, placement, and retailer collaboration and present to Clients.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
6. Plan Implementation:
• Execute strategic plans with client and Account Directors / Managers.
• Produce insights materials / presentations for staff training.
• Category and Market Review:
• Primary mapping of targeted products / categories.
• Primary mapping of Consumer profiles.
• Analysis of sales data, profitability, and customer feedback.
• Produce weekly / monthly market and consumer reports (state of the nation) to keep clients and business informed of trends and opportunities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, data agency or a similar role. Would suit agency role seeking experience in client side.
• Proficiency in Google data analysis tools and Looker Studio preferred alongside SQL, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify / access and interpret Market / Consumer data sets.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with statistical analysis and modelling techniques.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in a related field.
• Experience in FMCG retail or consumer goods industry.
• Familiarity with category management processes and strategies.
• Project management skills and experience with agile methodologies.
