The Housing Standards team is made up of five linked areas of housing expertise: construction, repairs, improvements, contract management, and safety. Each team consists of suitably qualified, skilled, and experienced trade operatives, surveyors, or contract supervisors.
The role
As a team leader, you are fundamental to ensuring the successful delivery of the Housing Service. This newly created role requires an initiative-taking and pragmatic approach to ensure the council's housing assets meet current and future statutory and regulatory requirements. You will manage and motivate a locality-based team ensuring behavioral, quality, and safety standards are adhered to.
The core focus of this job is to manage the day-to-day operational delivery of Construction site services within the Housing Standards team, providing leadership and direction for operatives to achieve set objectives. The candidate must have proven experience in residential construction works with site management experience. Responsibilities will include the delivery of programmes, ensuring the wellbeing, health, and safety of staff in line with health and safety policies and working in accordance with CDM regulations, reviewing and updating RAMS, and ensuring adherence to good, safe working practices throughout the lifecycle of all site operations.
What you will bring
You will have knowledge and experience in residential construction methods from conception to delivery, including refurbishments, house extensions, and new build homes. Experience in delivering projects on time and on budget, utilizing in-house trade staff, and excellent customer service skills is essential.
You will have experience managing a team, with the ability to effectively prioritize, plan, and organize workloads to ensure deadlines and targets are met, manage change, and deliver continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills are necessary, both written and oral, with the ability to problem-solve and find pragmatic solutions.
