We are looking for....
The overall purpose of this job is to provide strong leadership to the Accounts Payable department, and to ensure that the department runs smoothly. The AP responsibilities associated with this role include maintaining accurate records regarding payments to Suppliers, processing payments and training staff members. The role also includes maintaining adherence to Key Performance Targets.
This role also has responsibility for the management and reconciliation of AP bank accounts, requiring a high level of integrity in the management of highly confidential information.

1. Hiring, training, motivating and evaluating Accounts Payable team members
2. Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time
3. Maintaining accurate and complete financial, employee and supplier records
4. Compiling, analysing and reporting financial information to management, the business and to Government departments
5. Setting and facilitating the achievement of department objectives
6. Developing, implementing, improving and enforcing budgets, policies and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency
7. Building and maintaining relationships with employees, suppliers and the wider business
8. Assisting with external audit at half year and year end
9. Bank Accounts Reconciliation control and maintaining the AP Risk register
10. Commitment to ethical behaviour with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation
11. Partnering with the business to facilitate prompt payment
12. Contribute to reporting externally on performance against company objectives (KPIs), including Government targets for Prompt Payment
13. Drive and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

1. Educated to degree level
2. Qualified or a finalist / hold equivalent experience with a proven track record of technical excellence in AP procedures
3. Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
4. Experience in People Management, with strong "people orientation"
5. Experience successfully managing and leading teams
6. Experience in Communication and Influencing, with an ability to partner and influence, challenge and negotiate
7. Data Driven Mindset, experience with insight focused decision making
8. Experience successfully dealing with Suppliers and maintaining Supplier relationships
9. Ability to communicate fluently in English both written and spoken OFGEM regulations
10. Accounting Qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS)
11. Experience with ERP systems
