NES Fircroft are working with a global engineering company with a base in Sheffield who is looking for a Proposals Project Engineer to work with them on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring Project Engineer to join their Proposal Services team and grown professionally in a challenging and supporting environment. Reporting to the Proposal Services Manager, you will be a member of the Proposal Services group within the Downstream (DN) Sales department and providing a combined technical/commercial service for the company. You will be responsible for leading and coordinating the technical proposal of projects, with a typical budget of £2-30m contract value, with the support of an in-house team of engineers, ensuring that all project objectives are met. Technical bid responsibilities include a combination of the following: working to a fixed deadline ensuring technical and functional suitability of designs; setting engineering and equipment budgets. Main Tasks: Support the Project Execution for succession bids, including the generation of technical proposals using a combination of own skills supported by a team of multi-disciplined engineers working together with the sales manager, including liaison with other PT offices. Work with the Proposal Services manager and Technical/Bid Leaders to facilitate the timely submission of technical documents. Assist in developing standard and bespoke technical solutions, considering bidding costs, supply costs, and quality aspects while maintaining bid timescales. Monitor and report on pre-project internal timescales from BNB to Bid. Assist in coordinating engineering man-hour and/or merchant account budgets for the pre-project bids. Generate Equipment Enquiry Requisitions and Request For Quotation. Coordination with suppliers for selecting the most cost-effective solution of the bought out systems and equipment. Maintain the DN standard specifications including having an overview of all sections of the specification and ensure SCS numbers are maintained and implemented. Develop, maintain and cultivate relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors to ensure successful bidding process and / or to ensure relationships are developed to secure future business Required Skills: Some experience in a technical role (preferable within the metals industry), with Technical Sales knowledge. Experience of engineering design for the project lifecycle from sales through to installation/commissioning from a specific disciplined engineering view. Demonstrated ability to assist in the decision making of the proposals work. Must be able to take a pragmatic approach to problems solving with quick and positive attitude. Engineering design background, ideally complemented with some on-site working knowledge. (mechanical desirable but not mandatory) Basic functional knowledge of rolling mills, ideally both Steel and Aluminium. Ability to communicate/liaise on both technical and non-technical issues. Ability to use engineering design tools. Understanding of Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Sales and R&D disciplines Keep pace with current developments and in particular those of our competitors Experience of 2D and 3D engineering design software. Proficiency in IT and business system tools.
