Job Title: Financial Inclusion and Poverty Support Advisor
Employment Details: 20 hours/week, 52.14 weeks/year, Fixed Term for 6 months (Maternity Cover)

Role Overview:
This position is based within the Advice Shop, where the successful candidate will promote financial inclusion and alleviate poverty through advice and advocacy. The focus areas include welfare benefits/appeals, money/budgeting, housing, and energy advice.
Responsibilities:
1. Support families facing multiple barriers, including health inequalities, by working with partners such as local schools and education settings to offer targeted support.
2. Provide holistic advice to maximize income and promote financial wellbeing among families affected by poverty or financial insecurity.
3. Work at the community level to reduce and mitigate child poverty by delivering poverty awareness training, organizing information events, and delivering talks and presentations to relevant groups and organizations.
4. Ensure advice and support are accessible to families at the highest risk of experiencing poverty.
5. Apply research and analytical skills to develop practical solutions based on findings.
6. Possess experience in providing advice in money/debt, benefits, energy, or housing.
7. Organize events and deliver training (desirable skills).
Additional Information:
This role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. Candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check before a formal job offer is made by West Lothian Council.
