Class Teacher - Special Needs
Salary: £130 - £220 per Day (Paid to Scale)
Working Pattern: Full time (non-negotiable)
Start Date: As soon as possible (subject to satisfactory clearances)
Starfyn Education are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Class Teacher for one of our clients based in Norwood. The school caters for students with a primary diagnosis of Autism and has a number of different pathways designed to support their specific needs. We are looking for experienced Teachers who have a great knowledge and understanding of supporting students with ASD and any challenging needs that can arise.
Our client is looking for a dedicated Teacher to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with health care professionals and parents to help every child achieve their full potential. You would be working with an exciting curriculum, supporting the students to stay engaged and create a fun environment to learn in. The students at this school are between 11 – 19 years of age. The staff work together to promote a caring, positive, and professional environment for their students and use their enthusiasm and positivity to make the school a happy and exciting place.
The Ideal Candidate will:
1. Knowledge of assessment and teaching strategies appropriate to children with Special Educational Needs
2. Knowledge of the current legislative framework within which teachers operate, including the SEN Code of Practice, Curriculum 2000, and the Literacy and Numeracy.
3. Knowledge and understanding of KS4 and KS5 Secondary curriculum.
4. Knowledge and understanding of ASD/SEMH issues, including the emotional and physical challenges presented by regular involvement in physical intervention.
5. The ability to relate to and empathise with children who may have complex and severe emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties.
6. Effective group management skills of children with severe emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties.
7. Ability to plan and teach to meet the individual needs of the children.
8. An ability to empathise with the children and to provide a structure that facilitates emotional, social, and behavioural development.
To be successful in applying for this role, you must have a DFE recognised QTS. As an agency worker, you are only paid for the days you have worked. Therefore, you will not be paid during the school holidays.
