As a Junior Biomedical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing daily on-site medical device repairs, preventative maintenance, and asset management, all in line with contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) at a specified hospital location. Your role will involve building long-term relationships with customers, subcontractors, and staff to ensure excellent customer service and responsive operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring biomedical engineer to apply their skills in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on a range of medical equipment, adhering to manufacturer guidelines.
Support the Site Manager and team in achieving contractual KPIs by ensuring high-quality, timely service delivery.
Conduct repairs on medical equipment, troubleshooting and resolving issues in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
Complete all necessary administrative tasks related to repairs and preventative maintenance in accordance with internal procedures and biomedical engineering best practices.
Provide ongoing customer support to minimize disruption to hospital operations, ensuring equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
Ensure that all service documentation, including PMs and repairs, is completed accurately and in line with company Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintain safe working practices in line with biomedical engineering safety standards within the hospital environment.
Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels to support maintenance and repair operations.
Schedule and complete customer workload within your assigned area, working efficiently to meet deadlines.
Keep tools, test equipment, and biomedical devices in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Work collaboratively with OEM service staff and management, maintaining communication to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications:
Essential: Certified OEM training.
Desirable: Degree or qualification in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Medical Technologies, or a related field (preferably at Bachelor’s level). Equivalent experience will also be considered.
Skills:
Essential:
Strong customer relationship management skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, for documentation and reporting.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professional ethics.
In-depth knowledge of biomedical engineering principles, particularly in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical devices.
Familiarity with applicable regulatory and safety standards in medical device servicing.
Experience:
Essential:
1-3 years of experience in a UK-based role focused on medical equipment or biomedical engineering.
Familiarity with national and local regulatory standards governing biomedical equipment.
Experience working in clinical settings, interacting with hospital staff and patients, with a clear understanding of patient safety protocols.
Hands-on experience with a broad range of biomedical devices across various medical specialties.
Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles as they apply to medical equipment.

Adherence to company policies and procedures, with the ability to raise concerns when necessary.
Must have 1+ years UK experience on biomedical engineering devices.
