Senior Public Health Intelligence Analyst
Are you a data analyst who has worked with large and complex datasets to inform policy and practice? Would you like to join an innovative team exploring new ways to produce and communicate impactful information about the health of Wales?
Here in the Observatory and Cancer Analysis Team we are proud of our reputation for combining analytical skills with an understanding of public health. We can offer you a great place to work with a balance of home and office working that suits you; training and development opportunities, flexible working and a supportive, friendly and inclusive environment. This is an exciting time to be working in public health intelligence, as we innovate with data science approaches, support the recovery of the population of Wales from the Covid-19 pandemic, and analyse the impact of the cost of living crisis on health and wellbeing.
Along with our Principal and Advanced Analysts, you will support the development of Analysts within the team through both line management and the provision of in-house training and advice. Working with other team members you will be responsible for contributing to and leading the development of public health intelligence products such as reports and dashboards, responding to requests and advising colleagues in other parts of the organisation and beyond regarding health intelligence matters.
Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the team, your role will be wide-ranging and demand a broad set of skills. You will lead important projects and project teams, using an Agile approach. You will negotiate with a range of internal and external stakeholders and you will apply your technical expertise and public health knowledge to the development of quality-assured analytical products that meet our users' needs. You will also take on a technical leadership role for particular datasets or analytical techniques. Crucially, you will support the development of our more junior analysts, through both line management and the provision of in-house training and advice.
