The Division of Theatres and Critical Care are seeking to appoint an individual to support the operational and administrative functions within the Sterile Services Department.
Reporting to, and deputising for, the Sterile Services Manager, the post holder will provide a fully comprehensive support service to the department manager and the wider team.
The successful applicant will have sound knowledge and experience of decontamination processes and a thorough understanding of the user requirements, particularly operating theatres.
A customer solution focused mindset is essential for this role, facilitating team working and collaboration within the department and across organisational boundaries.
Applications are encouraged from individuals seeking to develop in a managerial role. Previous experience of line managing or supervising staff is essential along with a good understanding of HR policies and processes.
Candidates must be willing to undergo department and role specific training and study as required.
Main duties of the job
The Sterile Services Department Co-ordinator will be a role model for compassionate and inclusive leadership, demonstrating a leadership style that engages, enables, and empowers others.
The post-holder will be responsible for supporting the operational management and administrative functions within the department in line with high standards, policies, and protocols.
Ensuring a high-quality service is provided to all users, liaising with key stakeholders to adopt a can-do attitude to problem solving.
The successful candidate will be supported in their development within this role.
Hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.

Job responsibilities
Responsible for the provision of a fully comprehensive support service to the department manager and the wider team, to support the manager in the operational management of the Sterile Services Department as delegated.
Support the operational day-to-day running of the service including the design and implementation of rosters across the department using Health Roster. To be the first point of contact for issues relating to rosters, including recording, and monitoring all types of leave for staff (e.g. annual leave, study leave, shift swaps, ad-hoc cover).
Focus on the administrative elements of the service, working closely with the Sterile Services Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure compliance in relation to audit, policy, and other departmental KPIs.
Undertake day-to-day line management of the sterile services administration staff.
Ensure a high-quality low-risk service is maintained across all sites for reprocessing equipment through the Sterile Services Department.
Be an expert super-user for T-Doc, leading on upgrades and training.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification/experience
* Management and leadership training.
* Attendance of an ISO 13485: 2016 Internal Auditor Training Course - provided by a Notified Body or equivalent.
Experience
* Significant and relevant administration experience
* Significant experience working within a sterile services department.
* Experience of writing and developing department operational policies
* Experience of chairing meetings
* Experience of managing and training staff.
* Experience of recruitment and selection
Physical Skills
* Ability to sit at workstations and operate a PC and electronic systems.
Knowledge & Skills
* Good underpinning knowledge of production and quality processes within Sterile Services
* Working knowledge of computerised tracking and tracing systems, e.g. (T-Doc).
* Knowledge of ISO standards and their implementation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
