We have fantastic opportunities for Permanent Highways Maintenance Operatives and Traffic Management Operatives to join our NMC SW Account in Polmadie.
The salary is to be discussed in interview, with overtime available.
The roles are Monday to Friday 08:00am – 16:30. There may be a requirement for nightshift where you will be required to work 19:00pm to 06:30am.
Our NMC SW is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery, winter maintenance, and incident response.
The team assists road users on the network, delivering engineering design and operational services for over 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures, enabling reliable journey times and high customer care.
By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create safe spaces that minimise disruption and support thriving communities.
Highways Maintenance Operatives play an integral part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works.
You will be responsible for:
* Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works, and litter picking.
* Driving/operating vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance, and cleaning is carried out.
* Winter and Summer standby, which will include emergency call-out.
* Ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount.
* Keeping records, including drivers’ hours and necessary paperwork.
* It is essential you have a Class 2 HGV Licence and a CPC card. Ideally, you will have civils experience, with involvement in street works or landscaping experience.
As a Traffic Management Operative, you will undertake the installation, maintenance, and removal of various types of temporary traffic management.
You will be responsible for:
* Supporting the delivery of all aspects of temporary traffic management works, including high-speed lane closures, slip road and total carriageway closures, diversions, contraflows, traffic lights, and convoy systems.
* Driving/operating vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance, and cleaning is carried out.
* Being part of a Winter Maintenance Rota, including emergency call-out and standby.
* Ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount.
* Keeping accurate records, including drivers’ hours and necessary paperwork.
* It would be ideal if you have a Class 2 HGV Licence and Traffic management qualifications in Sector 12 A, B, C, and D.
