Job Description
We have a strong menu of learning programmes that target the formal UK curriculum. We aim to significantly increase their usage. You will drive this growth, leveraging your understanding of national education policy, your professional credibility, and your influencing skills. You will lead and motivate a talented team of professional Educators, maintaining a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and dynamism. You will inherit specialists from primary and secondary education as well as experts in community groups and hate prevention. You will seek out effective pedagogic methods and lead evaluations of our delivery and impact. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Curatorial and senior management teams to ensure our programmes leverage our collections and exhibitions effectively. Your role is vital in maintaining the Museum’s status as a leading Holocaust Education provider and ensuring programmes remain relevant and impactful.
Job Requirements
1. Understanding of the national educational landscape, including how schools operate and how our programmes fit within the National Curriculum, Exam Board policies, and Ofsted requirements.
2. Experience in enhancing teaching quality.
3. Experience in designing learning experiences delivered by others.
4. Knowledge of the school purchasing process and ability to develop appropriate packages for schools, including identifying the right mix of On-site, Outreach, and Online offerings.
5. Experience in operating, networking, and influencing at senior levels within educational institutions.
6. Empathy with issues surrounding Holocaust memory, its distortion, education, and how to relate it to contemporary issues.
7. Financial management skills, including budget setting and monitoring.
8. Passion for museum learning, with a focus on immersive, dialogic learning using the Museum’s creative assets.
Job Responsibilities
1. Maintain and improve the quality of the Museum's learning programmes for schools and colleges, fostering a culture of continual improvement.
2. Significantly increase the reach of these programmes by optimizing the mix of On-site, Outreach, and Online offerings, including briefings for school marketing campaigns.
3. Act as an enthusiastic ambassador alongside the CEO and Development Director, engaging with donors and presenting programmes during visits and events.
4. Stay abreast of pedagogical developments, technological advances, and changing learning behaviors to enhance programme delivery and feedback.
5. Promote post-survivor Holocaust education and initiatives addressing contemporary anti-Jewish racism and related issues.
