About the role:
The Head of Technical Support plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful operation and maintenance of the organisation's nuclear and large infrastructure projects. You will leverage your in-depth knowledge of nuclear technologies, large infrastructure systems, troubleshooting methodologies, and regulatory requirements to lead a team of technical support specialists.
Your focus on problem-solving, strong communication, and a collaborative approach will be crucial for providing efficient and effective technical support, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring the continued safe and reliable operation of these critical infrastructure projects.
Day to day duties:
* Act as the GBN technical focal point to the portfolio of nuclear new build delivery projects (Development Companies (DevCo .
* Provide strategic direction and leadership to the technical support team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
* Clearly communicate technical support procedures, escalation protocols, and performance expectations to the team
* Motivate and inspire the team to achieve high standards of service and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
* Lead the technical support team in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex technical problems associated with the delivery of nuclear and large infrastructure systems.
* Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other departments to ensure timely and coordinated resolution of technical issues.
* Ensure all technical support activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and operational procedures.
* Ensure the technical support team meets established service level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical knowledge base to support efficient problem-solving and knowledge transfer within the team.
* Maintain a strong understanding of evolving nuclear safety regulations and technical support best practices, implementing necessary changes to support procedures.
* Foster a culture of safety within the technical support team, prioritizing the safe and reliable operation of nuclear and large infrastructure systems.
* Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure timely access to technical expertise and support when needed.
* Conduct regular audits and reviews of technical support processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
* Proven track record of experience in a technical support leadership role within the nuclear or large infrastructure industry
* Possess a comprehensive understanding of nuclear reactor systems, large infrastructure operation and maintenance principles, and associated engineering disciplines (e.g. civil, mechanical, electrical).
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; skilled at communicating internally, externally and to a range of seniority including Board-level
* Strong knowledge of industry best practices in nuclear safety, technical support procedures, and regulatory compliance.
* Proficient in technical documentation, data analysis, and communication protocols.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Nuclear Science, or a related field preferred.
