Rail Development Manager\n\nSummary:\n\nAs a Rail Development Manager, you will lead and manage the Rail team of two, overseeing a budget of £175,000. Your primary responsibility will be to maximise the benefits of the South Yorkshire rail network by developing and coordinating activities across the client. You will act as a key stakeholder to all regional Train Operating Companies (TOCs), ensuring their plans align with the clients ambitions and deliver the best possible outcomes for their customers.
You will champion accessibility and community needs, encouraging rail use among under-represented groups.\n\nYour role is crucial in implementing local policies across the South Yorkshire region to ensure rail services enable passengers to connect with essential services such as work, education, healthcare, and leisure. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, including TOCs, and Rail North Committee, to represent South Yorkshire's requirements. Additionally, you will support the continual improvement of the customer experience on trains and at the 29 stations in South Yorkshire, protect timetables, lobby for improvements in connectivity and capacity, and oversee local policies and projects.\n\nSkills:\n\nStrong knowledge of the light and heavy rail industry\nExcellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills\nStrong analytical and numeracy skills\nExperience in managing professional officers and multiple stakeholders\nAbility to work at senior levels within an organisation and partnerships\nStrong organisation and time management skills\nAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines\nSelf-motivated with the ability to use own initiative\nEffective problem-solving skills\nExperience in managing rail franchise contracts and overseeing asset management\n\nSoftware/Tools:\n\nMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\nProject management software (e.g., MS Project)\n\nCertifications & Standards:\n\nRelevant degrees or professional qualifications in rail or transport management\nAwareness of relevant rail-related legislation and its application
