A bit about the role...
As a Senior Data Engineering Consultant at Snap, you'll lead the way in delivering advanced data engineering solutions whilst engaging with senior stakeholders to drive value for our clients. You’ll not only provide technical expertise, but also mentor team members, contribute to solution architecture, and spearhead internal initiatives to propel Snap’s capabilities forward.
Here's a breakdown of what you'll be doing...
Strategy & Solution Design
* You’ll lead solution architecture design, contributing to proposal creation and project planning.
* You’ll proactively identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions to drive business impact.
* You’ll build and develop relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring Snap remains a trusted partner.
Technical Delivery
* You’ll design and implement efficient, scalable cloud-based data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
* You'll develop robust data models (star, snowflake, etc.) and optimise ETL/ELT processes using tools like Matillion, Informatica, or Talend.
* You’ll build, automate, and monitor data pipelines to manage large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
Performance Optimisation & Governance
* You’ll analyse and enhance the performance of data systems and pipelines, ensuring high availability and cost-effective cloud resource usage.
* You’ll develop scalable, secure data architectures aligned with best practices for governance and access control.
Leadership & Collaboration
* You’ll manage teams, fostering collaboration and achieving high-quality deliverables.
* You’ll mentor junior engineers, guiding their professional development and elevating team capabilities.
* You’ll work closely with clients, data scientists, and business teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
Innovation & Internal Initiatives
* You’ll proactively initiate and manage internal products or projects that enhance Snap’s capabilities.
* You’ll stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, proposing innovative approaches to meet evolving client needs.
What you'll need to succeed...
Experience
* 5+ years of professional experience working as a data engineer, with expertise in data migration, integration, and cloud-based data warehousing.
* Proven experience designing and building data architectures on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Technical Skills
* Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT processes and cloud data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery).
* Strong technical expertise in tools like Matillion, Informatica, or Talend.
* In-depth knowledge of data modelling principles (e.g. star schema, snowflake schema) and their application to analytics and reporting.
* Familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation tools like Git, Jenkins, Docker, or Kubernetes.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data challenges.
Soft Skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage senior clients and non-technical audiences.
* A track record of leadership, with the ability to inspire and guide teams toward success.
