Are you an experienced and inspirational teacher with a passion for transforming lives through education? We are seeking a dynamic and flexible individual to join our team as a Family Learning tutor. We offer a person-centred approach that empowers families with the skills and knowledge needed to support their child’s learning. We work closely with hard-to-reach families, building excellent working relationships that create real impact. By meeting the needs of our local communities, we help families thrive.
We have a strong commitment to providing progression opportunities to our learners, and our Tutor Team plays a key role in positively promoting our service to individuals and communities across the local area through robust information, advice, and guidance. Family Learning courses can be the first step back into education for many learners and provide a wonderfully creative and rewarding opportunity for you to open up pathways for learners of all abilities and backgrounds.
You will be able to:
1. Provide engaging and accessible learning opportunities for families in primary schools and other settings.
2. Offer courses covering maths and English to health and wellbeing and also arts and crafts.
3. Inspire growth and confidence in both adults and children.
4. Adapt and respond positively to emerging learner and local needs.
5. Work a variety of hours across the working week, including potentially evenings.
6. Have flexibility to work across various locations in Workington and the surrounding area; a driving licence and access to a vehicle would be an advantage.
7. Be supportive, empathetic, flexible, and provide welcoming learning environments that encourage even the most reluctant of learners to succeed.
You will need:
1. Fully qualified to teach in the adult learning sector at Level 4/5 (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Diploma in Education or equivalent) or currently enrolled to complete within the next two years.
2. Hold a qualification at least one level above the subject taught (e.g., A level Maths if teaching GCSE Maths).
3. Maths and English at Level 2.
4. Experience of working in an adult learning context.
As a service, we are working towards achieving an Outstanding Ofsted judgement, and we are looking for an excellent practitioner who can contribute positively to this goal.
