Salary: £42,300 - £49,367 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Permanent full-time role
Location: Main base is Cardiff. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with operational commitments across Wales and Wider Wales sites.

Job Introduction
The Operations team at BBC Wales are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team as an Operations Team Leader who would be responsible for the day-to-day management and development of our Camera Team across Wales who service production requirements varying across a range of locations and genres including News.
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Executive, the successful candidate will hold the following responsibilities:
* Providing operational abilities at the highest level, planning and organising the technical and staffing requirements for complex and demanding programmes in studio, location and other operational areas.
* Act as the central point of contact and communication for the team, and for the Operations Executive.
* Work with senior colleagues to plan and account for the costs and resources associated with the delivery of specific programmes or events.
* Provide creative technical leadership to operational and production teams; ensuring staff welfare is provided for; maintaining and sharing knowledge of most up-to-date industry technologies.
* Work closely with other Operations Team Leaders and the Planning and Scheduling team to analyse forward allocation of staff against future operational commitments.
* Act as the first point of contact for technical, operational and staffing issues.
* Work collegiately with the wider Operations Management Team and Operations Executive to manage staff and enhance relationships with production areas and other teams.
* Identify and implement new ways of working.
* Create a positive working environment for colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
* Work flexibly and dynamically to ensure all business needs are met.
* Contribute to technical operational project work.
* Deputise for the Operations Executive when required.
* Contribute to forecasting and business planning processes.
* Train, coach, and mentor staff; conducting appraisal interviews.
* Provide advice on technical matters, programme resources, and available techniques for operational colleagues and production staff.
* Ensure the safety of the team's work and compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Work alongside various Operational, Production and Editorial roles to deliver high-quality content.
Are you the right candidate?
The ideal candidate will have:
* Industry recognised training.
* Experience of camera operation/supervising within newsgathering and/or Studio and outside Broadcasts.
* Ability to undertake basic edit tasks or willingness to develop the skills.
* Experience of successfully guiding, managing and motivating teams.
* Experience of undertaking an operational role within the camera field.
* Good interpersonal skills and experience of managing stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills, tact, and diplomacy.
* Broad technical knowledge, including understanding of varied and complex systems.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety in the Workplace.
* Self-starting and results focused, with the ability to inspire colleagues.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Extensive operational experience.
* Ability to manage change positively.
