Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health and Well-Being Support Teaching Assistant to join our team at secondary schools in Newcastle. In this role, you will provide vital support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. Your responsibilities will include offering academic, social, and emotional support on a one-to-one basis to help students integrate smoothly into school life.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one support to students with SEMH and mental health needs.
- Assist students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Collaborate closely with staff members to achieve the best outcomes for students.
Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with Mental Health and SEMH needs, preferably in an educational or care setting.
- Ability to manage situations with calmness and sensitivity.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the capacity to think innovatively when supporting students with additional needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain trusting relationships with students.
- A collaborative team player, capable of working effectively with staff and external partners.
- Genuine empathy and care for students' academic, emotional, and personal growth.
- Supportive and motivational attitude to inspire trust and encourage students.
- Initiative to address individual student needs based on their communication and learning skills.
- Proven experience working with young people or vulnerable adults, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Basic IT skills.
