Job Summary
This position supports the engineering team by processing and formatting raw site investigation data into structured reports. This includes preparing technical tables, AutoCAD drawings, and assisting with report writing. The role is vital in ensuring the accurate presentation of test results and findings but does not involve on-site testing.
This is a technical data handling role, requiring a structured approach to data, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with scientific reporting rather than business or financial analysis.
This role requires high attention to detail, proficiency in data handling software, and an understanding of engineering concepts to ensure the quality and consistency of report deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Data Processing and Management
Receive, process, and format raw data collected from on-site structural investigations.
Ensure data is correctly organised and stored, maintaining consistency and accessibility.
Develop structured tables, graphs, and charts to present findings clearly.
Use software such as Excel, AutoCAD, to process and visualise data.
Work with engineers to validate data accuracy and resolve inconsistencies.
Report Preparation
Assist engineers in compiling technical reports by interpreting data and structuring content appropriately.
Produce high-quality written summaries, ensuring data is effectively communicated.
Format and structure reports in accordance with client and internal specifications.
Prepare supporting documentation such as calculations, images, and diagrams.
Maintain clear version control and organisation of all report documents.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure data integrity and consistency across all reporting outputs.
Follow internal quality control procedures for data processing and reporting.
Identify and flag any anomalies, missing data, or reporting errors.
Assist with refining reporting templates and developing best practices for data presentation.
Administrative & Technical Support
Maintain and organise technical documentation and datasets for ongoing and completed projects.
Support the standardisation of reporting formats and contribute to process improvements.
Assist engineers with the preparation of presentation materials and technical drawings.
Provide general technical assistance where required, such as troubleshooting minor data formatting issues. Assist in compiling project files for submission to clients or regulatory bodies.
Person Specification

Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM subject (e.g., Engineering, Environmental Science, Physics, Mathematics, Biochemistry, or similar).
Proficiency in Excel (formulas, data organisation, basic analytics).
Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar technical drawing software.
Experience in technical report writing, particularly with data interpretation.
Experience in data entry or analysis
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify and correct inconsistencies in data.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience working with GIS software or similar spatial data tools.
Knowledge of civil or structural engineering concepts (though an engineering degree is not required).
Previous experience in a role involving data-driven reporting or scientific documentation.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and site investigation data.
Experience working in a regulated or compliance-driven environment.
