Application Deadline: Jan. 17, 2025 London Hybrid Job Description Job title: Data Analyst/BI Developer Reports to: Head of Business Solutions Location: 5th Floor, HYLO, 105 Bunhill Row, London, EC1Y 8LZ Working pattern: Hybrid – minimum of two days per week in the office; up to three days per week working from home Department: Technology Salary: Competitive salary General Summary We are seeking a curious, collaborative and self-motivated data analyst / BI developer to join our Solutions team within our Technology Department. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and interpreting end-user requirements and working with colleagues to capture and model data. Building interactive dashboards and reports that deliver insight and empower better decision-making. We operate a self-service model and the key to success in this role is to be passionate about providing people access to the right information and ensuring they are trained to be able to maximise their use of it. You will work closely with the head of business solutions and the senior data analyst to support various departments across the organisation, such as editorial, marketing, sales, finance and production. There will also be participation in projects that span technology and the rest of the business, and which will be on an on-demand basis, tackling elements of projects that overlap with your skillset and domain. Key responsibilities Data extraction and analysis Assist in building ETL from and to various locations, including cloud platforms (Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics), third-party sources (e.g. Biblio, Amazon) and user-maintained flat files Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualisations to effectively communicate findings in collaboration with key stakeholders (primarily using Power BI and Excel) Data modelling and reporting Collaborate on the maintenance of data models to support analysis and reporting needs Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualisations to effectively communicate findings in collaboration with key stakeholders (primarily using Power BI and Excel) Technical skills development Stay up-to-date with the latest relevant data techniques, tools, and technologies Contribute to the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure and tools Experiment with technologies with the ability and confidence of prototyping quickly and failing fast Collaboration and support Be a keen and supportive data consultant to end users and data consumers, drilling down to the root cause of problems and proposing an approach to solve it Collaborate openly and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams to fully understand their data needs and provide analytical support Qualifications and experience Proven experience (2 years) as a Data Analyst, BI Developer or in a similar role with a transferable skillset, preferably within the publishing industry or a similar business model Strong experience with data presentation and visualisation using Power BI and Excel Knowledge of SQL or similar data engineering approaches / languages Proficiency in data analysis, modelling techniques and/or report building concepts Demonstrate understanding of good coding practices and/or DevOps First-hand experience of using data products/solutions as an end-user i.e. the insight to understand what users really need, and where their frustrations stem from Confident communicator with good presentation skills and the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences Comfortable asking or being asked hard questions in a constructive manner, and taking the lead as needed to keep things moving Derive job satisfaction from getting hands-on to devise and implement innovative solutions to thorny problems If you are interested in this role, please apply via our website.
