Support Worker – Full Time (Complex Services)
£12.00 per hour
Driver required with a full UK licence
Shifts will be 7.30am to 10.30pm, 8am to 5pm and 8am to 9pm (5 days out of 7). We also work a weekend on and weekend off pattern.
The role
Real Life Options is a registered charity currently going through a period of growth, and we are continuing to search for permanent contracted Support Workers who really want to make an impact on the lives of the people we support.
We deliver creative, dynamic and person-centred services providing a range of individualised support.
For this role you would be required to support one young man in supported living. As a Support Worker you will help promote and maintain independence and assist with daily living tasks which may include: domestic tasks, assisting with mail, bills, and maintaining tenancy. You will also be prompting and providing personal care. There is medication support which is a very important part of this role and the successful applicant would be expected to undertake annual competencies/training as required.
The young man is non-verbal and uses pictures to aid in his communication with staff, experience of this would be highly desirable, however full training will be provided.
There can be challenging behaviour involved, any candidate that applied should have previous experience with challenging behaviour and how to manage this, such as de-escalation training and/or experience with Positive Behaviour Support Plans. There will be extensive challenging behaviour training in place for successful candidates. The service is staffed at a 3:1 ratio so there are always 3 staff on at any one time.
The young gentleman has a very active social life and attends many activities in the local community such as swimming, bowling and attending clubs. The ability to swim is desirable in order to support him in the pool. You will also be required to support to respond to, and attend medical appointments.
A Driver is required as you will be driving the young man’s car for activities.
An Enhanced Adult PVG is required for this role.
