Our client who was intially established over 40 years ago, working within thge Civil engineering and Utility Contracting space are currently looking for a SHEQ advisor to join the team based in Portsmouth with travel to sites across the south/southeast.
(You might have relevant experience within Civil engineering or Electrical infrastructure or power distribution or other Utilities)
Job description
Assisting the SHEQ Manager in reporting to Director level on all aspects of SHEQ
Keep up to date with latest SHEQ requirements including legislation and industry best practice
Be the leading representative supporting the Directors in respect of all aspects of SHEQ setting the highest standards by personal example
Ensure site management is aware of and provided with up to date SHEQ information and documentation
Advise and propose policy and procedure amendment as required to meet the required industry standards, legislation and best practice.
Attending Management Reviews covering all aspects of SHEQ for attendance of Directors and Senior Managers
Represent the Company to clients and other external parties including the relevant enforcement agencies
Facilitate external audit for certification bodies to ISO 9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001, Achilles UDVB and Lloyds register NERS certification.
Monitor and update the Achilles UDVB vendor database
Monitor company objective and targets in respect of SHEQ and report to the SHEQ Manager.
Assist with SHEQ requirements at prequalification and bid stage.
Assist in preparation of risk assessments and method statements for estimating stage and in accordance with specific project requirements
Conduct SHEQ audits and inspections of the companies activities at sites and premises
Monitor and manage SHEQ Inspection reports
Investigate accidents and incidents and prepare reports with recommendations
Monitor company owned equipment calibration records
Oversee the training requirements for employees including arranging external courses as required
Prepare and conduct various SHEQ awareness training briefings including company inductions, management briefings and monthly employee SHEQ briefingsJob requirements
Eligible to work in the UK
Clean current driving license
At least 3 years' experience in a SHEQ role preferably within the civil engineering sector
Good overall knowledge from experience in civil engineering and utilities sectors (preference toward electric utility experience)
Good knowledge of legislation in respect of Health, Safety and Environment
Conversant with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Good presentation preparation and delivery skills
Good writing skills for reports, bulletins and SHEQ media for internal and external communication
Highly self-motivated, a confident communicator at any level and sets a high standard through example in regard to compliance with company safety standardsQualifications required
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
Tech IOSH /Cert IOSH
Desirable: IEMA / Auditor qualification/ Quality related qualificationIn return our client will offer:
