Position: Fleet Manager Department: Operations Reports to: Operations Director Employment Type: Full Time Job Summary: The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and safe transportation of goods and services. This role includes managing vehicle maintenance and optimizing fleet utilization. The Fleet Manager ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, manages budgets, and works to improve overall fleet performance. Key Responsibilities: Fleet Maintenance & Management: Oversee the regular maintenance, repair, and inspection of all vehicles within the fleet. Ensure that vehicles meet regulatory standards and are fully compliant with safety and environmental laws. Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespans. Keep detailed records of vehicle repairs, services, and inspections. Fleet Optimization & Cost Control: Monitor fleet performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Analyze fuel usage, mileage, and route efficiency to ensure optimal operations. Develop and manage the fleet budget, ensuring all costs are within the approved limits. Coordinate vehicle replacements and purchases to maintain a modern, efficient fleet. Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including transportation laws, safety standards, and environmental requirements. Implement and enforce safety policies and procedures for drivers and vehicles. Handle accidents, incidents, or violations, including reporting to authorities and ensuring that corrective actions are taken. Fleet Performance & Reporting: Monitor fleet performance metrics (fuel efficiency, downtime, accident rates, etc.) and prepare regular reports for senior management. Use data to make informed decisions about fleet improvements, cost-saving measures, and operational strategies. Stay current with industry trends and innovations to recommend new technologies or strategies for fleet management. Vendor & Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers, such as vehicle manufacturers, mechanics, and fuel providers. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and services to optimize fleet-related expenses. Qualifications: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management or a related field. Strong understanding of fleet operations, maintenance, safety standards, and transportation regulations. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Valid drivers license and clean driving record. Physical Requirements: Ability to travel and inspect vehicles or manage off-site operations as required. Occasional lifting or physical activity involved in vehicle inspections.
