A leading energy trading team is seeking a Fundamental Analyst to join their team to develop forecasting models for the ISEM power market. The role focuses on delivering accurate analysis to support trading, risk management, and investment decisions.
Key responsibilities:
* Partner with the trading and modelling teams to develop near-long term market trend predictions:
* Generate short-term forecasts for hedge valuations, gas capacity, fuel needs, and outage planning.
* Develop medium- to long-term forecasts, including demand analysis, pricing trends, and interconnector modelling.
* Work on hedge valuations, identify opportunities for optimization, and provide critical insights for planning outages and meeting fuel needs.
* Support financial reporting and budgeting with robust, real-time analysis that drives decision-making.
* Design risk management strategies to address commodity price and market risks.
* Collect, analyze, and interpret market, plant, and system data to create reliable reports.
* Review past performance and produce forecasts for revenue (capacity, energy, ancillary) and costs (fuel, maintenance).
* Support projects looking at strategies to improve trading performance during outages, auctions and validating models.
Requirements:
* Experience developing modelling and analysis on the GB and or ISEM power markets.
* Knowledge and understanding of the power market fundamentals.
* Expertise of interconnector and imbalance market, ISEM and/or GB energy market.
* Experience with commercial risk management strategies and governance within a trading function.
* Experience market modelling software such as PLEXOS, Python.
