NRL are working with a client, who are major players in the nuclear industry, to recruit a Junior Commercial Manager to work in a staff position to support the delivery of a new build power station. This role is based part-time on a construction site and part-time in the office; however, hybrid arrangements can be discussed.
About the role:
Working in both client-facing and internal roles, our client is delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. They are driving to deliver safe, high-quality, and timely solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively. You are required to record all information from the Supervisors and report to the site PM.
Key responsibilities:
1. Monitor subcontractor cost performance, help in managing costs (accurately cost commercial pricing), suggest journal requests if needed.
2. Review weekly/monthly management accounts and key performance information and identify areas for improvement in margin.
3. Monitor and maintain the data within the Site Works Management System.
4. Ensure the timely and accurate billing of all work carried out within the Site project, ensuring that client-specified application/invoice dates are met.
5. Manage the Early Warning and Compensation Event process as set out in the NEC form of Contract (or as amended by our clients T&C's).
6. Manage client disputes (Claims/variations) face to face and create a strong client link. Provide timely responses to Client enquiries, ensuring communication aligns with the company ethos, and follow all delays on site due to client issues and non-performance of site personnel.
7. Create In-Contract pricing, estimates, and quotations, following through to final account settlement. Assist the site project manager on any cost issues and help prepare revenue reports to facilitate preparation and publication of monthly management accounts.
8. Contribute to the overall management of commercial aspects of contracts, ensuring costs and revenue are recorded in the correct periods.
What you will need:
1. Modern apprenticeship in Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.
2. Proven track record in all aspects of Administration in a fast-moving environment.
3. Experience in diary management, travel and room booking, and office supplies management and ordering.
4. Excellent negotiating skills.
5. Good understanding of the NEC form of Contract.
