Who we are?
Silverfin is a cutting-edge cloud software solution built by accountants, for accountants.
Founded in 2013, Silverfin was created to solve the frustrations of manual, error-prone processes in analysing financial data and compliance. From day one, we’ve been a cloud-first platform with an open API architecture, leveraging structured data to transform how accountants work.
Our mission is simple: to enhance and support the accountancy profession through AI and automation, ensuring accountants remain relevant and respected in the future of finance.
In 2023, Silverfin became part of the Visma Group, joining one of Europe’s leading providers of cloud software. This partnership strengthens our ability to innovate and expand our impact within the accountancy industry.
Today, Silverfin is trusted by over 930 firms across 16 countries. Our clients include all of the Big 4 accounting firms, as well as leading global networks like BDO, PKF, Baker Tilly, Grant Thornton, and Moore.
Headquartered in Ghent, with offices in London, Luxembourg, and Gouda (NL), we’re a team of over 180 people - including a diverse remote engineering team working across multiple time zones - all working together to drive innovation in accounting.
How would you support our success?
Your role
Reporting to our CEO, the General Manager UK holds overall accountability for the revenue and performance of the UK and the talented team we employ in the market. You will own and accelerate the achievement of company goals based on localised product and customer strategies and ensure effective implementation of specific go to market plans. You are a member of our Senior leadership team and have a team of direct reports who are leaders in Sales and Customer Experience (Cx). Under a matrix management approach you have members of the Marketing and Product Management functions assigned to your BU (business unit) to ensure strong marketing execution and product alignment with the retention and expansion of customer value.
Your BU will also draw on core services from our Finance/BizOps and People functions.
Internally this role works with:
1. The UK market team members working across Sales and Cx.
2. The senior leadership team
3. Other business unit Leaders - to share learnings, processes and insights
4. Assigned experts from Marketing, Product Management and Business Solutions.
5. Our global People team
6. Our global Finance/BizOps team
Externally the Role Works With:
1. Customers and prospects
2. Industry associations and membership bodies that have our target market as members
3. Other SaaS ecosystem partners that serve and support our customers
4. Commercial organisations that we have relationships with to operate locally.
What would you do to drive our success?
Your responsibilities
1. Leadership, people management, coaching and resource planning - supporting a small team inside a larger business.
2. ARR growth and sales performance - with particular focus on increasing market awareness, acquiring the right customers and creating early “time to value” experiences.
3. Customer engagement, retention and expansion - supporting high pNPS, lifetime value, low churn and loyalty, customer advocates and ARPA increases.
4. Overall local P&L accountability, metrics and regional strategy in a global business context
The General Manager is primarily responsible for the market specific vision, growth and leadership of the Silverfin business outcomes in the UK.
Whilst at all times feeling connected, aligned and supported by the broader organisation, you are required to “think globally, and act locally” and champion the needs of the market, customers and our in market team members.
Your leadership needs to be authentic, inclusive and collaborative, as well as highly focused on performance and outcomes.
The role has Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Engagement team members reporting into it indirectly and directly and so maintaining a strong oversight on these key functions are very important. There is a need for an “independent but connected” approach to leveraging all aspects of a strong Go To Market strategy to win in the UK.
You are focused heavily on customer ARR growth and sales performance for the UK market. You will understand how an effective direct sales team operates and you will support that team via insightful contributions that empower success. You can advocate for our solution at events and in front of high value customers and partners – and being able to run a Silverfin demo is something you’d value the opportunity to do from time to time.
A focus on the right target market segments and buyer personas will ensure that we attract and acquire progressive accountants who can transform their performance using the Silverfin solution. We do not oversell or over-promise and we leverage ABM and rich content and product marketing to inform and educate, lead and inspire the ideal customer.
Working with your Customer focused team, you will ensure an outstanding and efficient approach to onboarding, responsive support and training, differentiated services for high value customers, churn risk is proactively managed and commercial and contract requirements are met. You will spend time with and build relationships with key customers and ensure the customer voice is heard internally so that opportunities can be addressed to drive increased value and pNPS scores.
The above two key areas of focus will see you leading the achievement of relevant and ambitious acquisition, retention and expansion targets. Keeping these goals and outcomes alive for both the local team and the wider organisation is the final key accountability area in the General Manager role. You will collaborate with the CEO and other business senior leaders to develop an Annual Plan for your region and you must be able to bring this to life for your team and track outcomes, celebrate successes and respond to shortfalls if required. You will inform with insightful and pragmatic leadership the development and execution of plans at all levels - strategic, tactical and operational.
As a senior management role there are several other areas of general accountability that see the operation execute successfully. These include management of local commercial relationships, budget and P&L reporting, delegated financial approvals, escalation management, people and culture events and activities, supporting training and learning activities, employee health and wellbeing initiatives and environmental social responsibility objectives.
You will identify unexplored opportunities and adapt the business model to local requirements, taking an agile, learning approach where possible.
You will receive support and coaching as required from the wider organisation and functional leader.
Performance and Accountability
We ask that you learn and take manageable risks, expect and interpret feedback on your performance and have an open mind for personal training and development opportunities as they arise. We ask all our staff to speak up and contribute to team discussions, planning and other operational conversations. Your voice is valuable and through these interactions you will grow and contribute more to our business goals.
We are increasing our focus on the right metrics to drive performance and you will be comfortable with this focus. We work hard to ensure great performance is acknowledged and recognised and that service delivery is reliable and meets stakeholder expectations. You will report on and understand key business metrics and set team goals and targets that motivate and ensure visibility on results to plan. You will take high levels of accountability for ensuring your performance meets the metrics needed to be successful.
