Job summary The post holder will be expected to perform a wide range of duties covering all aspects of maintenance applicable to the role. They will be required to carry out necessary repair works. The post holder will liaise with clinical and non-clinical teams when carrying out work to ensure patient and staff safety and that infection control is not compromised. Perform unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work that does not require the attention of a fully qualified craftsperson, related to their training. Learn minor repair work related to other trades (to be agreed) as required. Use all relevant tools safely and responsibly. To undertake basic training for new practices, procedures, and equipment. To assist colleagues on new work and repairs. To perform other routine tasks including labouring as and when required. Main duties, tasks & skills required Policy and service development May comment on and contribute to procedures / Standard Operating procedures/ updates within own work area. Information Resources To carry out all duties of engineering Storeman when requested, using computerised stock control system. To actively participate in the operation of facilities labour control scheme, by completion of all paperwork and reports as required by the scheme. Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses, damages and irregularities are documented and reported to a manager in accordance with Trust policy. To undertake all work activities as requested by the Electrical Supervisor/Estates Officer. Person specification Qualifications Essential Basic education to GCSE level in Maths and English or post Education training in a relevant field City & Guilds of London Institute Certificate in a relevant Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering discipline. OR An equivalent qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering discipline. OR BTEC/ONC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. OR Relevant Experience. Experience Essential Experience of working in electrical engineering or building services installation, alteration, maintenance or fault finding. Previous electrical knowledge to enable basic isolation of electrical circuits. Previous electrical experience in a similar/ same role. Basic knowledge in electrical principles. Knowledge of Health and Safety rules/ legislation. Desirable Experience working in an acute hospital environment or similar demanding role Previous experience of carrying out PPM surveys and compiling reports, material lists etc. Additional Criteria Essential Desire to expand their knowledge and participate in suggesting improvements within the function. Available for undertaking overtime.
