Description
St Petrocs has a long history of prudent financial management which has ensured we can continue to meet the growing demand for our services. Now, with a turnover of GBP 4.3m and 70 employees tirelessly working to end homelessness in Cornwall, we're looking for an experienced professional to take daily oversight of all areas of the charity's finance. As our new Associate Director of Finance, the successful candidate will play a key role in the continued growth and sustainability of St Petrocs. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will manage a small team who are responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient processing of all finance functions including invoice processing and payment, income recognition and reconciliation, recording and monitoring grant expenditure and compliance, and expense processing.
The team is also responsible for providing the senior leadership team with detailed departmental monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, cash flow forecasts as well as producing the annual statutory accounts ready for audit.
What you'll be doing.
1. Review financial data and ensure monthly accounts include all relevant data and explanations necessary to inform the senior leadership team and trustees of the current and future financial position to ensure the continued financial stability of the charity.
2. Ensure detailed data is produced for review by the senior departmental leads.
3. Review financial data to look for trends and identify areas for improvement.
4. Ensure all financial procedures and policies are kept up to date in accordance with our ISO9001 certification.
5. Liaise with external auditors to ensure annual audit completed in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner.
6. Understand and adhere to financial and charity regulations and legislation including appropriate Accounting Standards and SORPs.
7. Ensure accounting software and other platforms used by the Finance Team are kept up to date and are appropriate for the Charity's needs.
8. Provide leadership, direction and support to Finance Team members, with regular appraisal and feedback allowing team members to establish and monitor their own objectives in line with the wider team and organisation.
9. As an integral part of the Charity, work with other areas of the organisation as and when required in order to facilitate best financial performance across the organisation.
10. Produce ad-hoc information as and when required by the senior leadership team in order to aid the decision-making process.
11. Attend events as a positive ambassador for St Petrocs, promoting and raising awareness of its services and inspiring existing and potential supporters.
12. Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested.

Essential Criteria
* Commitment to our services and the people we serve
* Qualified to a minimum of AAT Level 4
* Good knowledge of charity accounting regulation
* Proficient user of finance software such as Xero and Excel
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to demonstrate leadership and taking ownership of projects
* Produce accurate work under pressure and to tight timescales, with a calm and methodical approach
* Experience of managing staff and working collaboratively in a team
* Energetic, creative and motivated, with a proactive and positive approach
