The role of Rota Co-ordinator sits within the Maternity, Gynaecology and Breast division, working alongside a team of Rota Co-ordinators to provide a professional and supportive rota service. The post holder will be responsible for the organisation and management of medical staff rotas ensuring a high-quality patient care experience is provided through the efficient deployment of Consultants and Junior Doctors, covering gaps on the rota using internal and external doctors, anticipating problems, and working through them in a methodical manner.
As the key rota contact for the division, it is imperative to have an oversight of all Consultant and Junior Medical Staff rota templates, actioning changes where necessary. Close liaison with Consultants, Junior Doctors, Clinical Leads, Clinical Directors and management teams, Medical Personnel and the Medical and Dental Education Department is at the centre of the role therefore strong communication skills are key.
Main duties of the job
Be responsible for the administration and communication of rotas for Consultants and the populating of rotas for Junior Doctors across the named specialities and acting as a single point of contact for Junior Doctors within the division.
1. The post holder will provide day to day rota support for Consultants and Junior Doctors within the Maternity, Gynaecology and Breast Division.
2. The post holder must communicate tactfully and persuasively with all medical staff to maintain appropriate cover for all aspects of the Maternity, Gynaecology and Breast Division at all times. This includes the co-ordination of all Consultants and Junior Doctor annual and study leave, in accordance with Trust Policy, ensuring service requirements are met and arranging cover at short notice for sick leave and special leave.
3. Liaise on any sensitive issues, such as sickness absence, compassionate leave, or other sensitive information that the post holder has been made aware of. This should be done in a timely manner with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Supervisor.
4. Implementation of all departmental rotas in line with the Working Time Directive and the New Junior Doctors Contract as agreed by the Divisional Directors and Medical Workforce.

Education and Qualifications
* Good general education, preferably English Language to GCSE (or equivalent).
Experience
* Previous administrative experience.
* Experience of Managing/Organising a team.
* Experience of rotas.
* Experience of working in the NHS.

* Flexible and responsive to change.
* Self-motivated and self-directed.
* Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
Key Skills/Abilities
* Competent use of MS packages.
* Good written and verbal communication.
