About the role You’ll be a subject matter expert for civil engineering across Drax Hydro sites, providing technical support, delivering key projects and managing civil asset maintenance. This role will involve assisting the Civil Team in setting the standard for civil engineering good practise for the generation business, ensuring that all statutory requirements are complied with and an effective standard is set for civil engineering governance. You’ll ensure that civil inspection activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant standard so that civil assets are effectively managed. You’ll also support delivery of civil engineering projects of all sizes from decommissioning, development and construction through to station maintenance and refurbishment. Stakeholder management will be key, as you’ll be working closely with Engineers and Managers from across our Hydro sites and the wider business. You’ll also be responsible for supervising contractors and reviewing designs supplied by consultants. Who we’re looking for You’ll need to have a strong background in Civil Engineering, accompanied by a relevant Degree or HND/ HNC qualification. Ideally, you’ll also hold or be working towards Chartered Engineer status. Good working knowledge and understanding of civil engineering industry standards and legislation (BS EN standards, Eurocodes, CIRIA guidance; DMRB etc) is required. You’ll have highly developed communications and negotiation skills with the ability to form effective working relationships and persuade others to help them solve problems.
