The Role
This role will report into the Head of Paid Media. You will work closely with the Head of Paid Media to maximise the efficiencies, productivities and growth capabilities of the department as a whole. You will work closely with Paid Media Managers and Growth Managers in order to fulfil clients briefs for paid media campaigns and projects.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
The agency relies on you for the following:
1. Growth and Profitability: Support the growth of a sustainable department, achieving agreed financial KPIs
2. Ensure our actionables are profitable, and the team is tracking costs for clients and projects.
3. Identify opportunities to drive innovation within the department and developing the paid media offering.
4. Create effective strategies that translate into innovative, award-winning and profitable paid media solutions.
5. Identify award submission opportunities and contribute to the submission process.
6. Define reporting expectations across PPC department with support from HoD.
7. Define the expectation of innovation and drive forward areas to innovate within PPC accounts.
8. Own the PPC training programme ensuring enrolment of team and escalating additional training needs when necessary.
9. Train team on more advanced tasks such as forecasting.
10. Work with Head of Department on the development and delivery of the agency’s paid search proposition.
11. Contribute to the direction and building of the PPC team.
12. Understand the billability of PPC team and levels of service.
13. Understand client profitability and approaches to manage over servicing.
14. Own day to day platform relationships (Google/Microsoft).
15. Working with SEO counterpart to ensure a total search approach is present for all PPC/SEO accounts.
Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to the paid media team
1. Lead the training and development of Paid Media Managers and other team members.
2. Balance resource requirements for your team.
3. Mentor your reports to ensure that they develop a wealth of experience within PPC, Paid Media and Search, as well as soft skills.
4. Manage and support team members to effectively manage campaigns.
5. Improve processes and efficiencies across the team.
6. Brief and QA junior members of the team for support work where needed.
7. Ensure all work generated by the team meet the high standards.
8. Lead the team in knowledge of developments in paid media best practice, and sharing across the team with your fresh thoughts and enthusiasm.
9. Provide reports with career plans and support with achieving goals set out.
10. Identify training gaps and opportunities for PPC team members.
11. Share news and updates on PPC and paid media with the team and the agency.
Service Innovation and Implementation: Continually raise the bar and maintain a competitive edge
1. Implement recommendations where efficiencies can be improved in terms of our work output.
2. Manage a portfolio of client accounts and oversee the delivery of successful multi-channel paid media campaigns that meet or exceed client goals and expectations.
3. Develop and implement effective omni channel paid media strategies.
4. Review qualitative and quantitative reports prepared by managers on paid media campaign performance to make recommendations.
5. Create and manage PPC strategy to achieve a client’s goals and objectives.
6. Responsible for leading, developing and ensuring implementation of appropriate PPC and omnichannel strategies for client growth.
7. Responsible for overseeing performance and leading strategic adjustments to deliver against client targets.
8. Provide QA and troubleshoot problems and maximise performance.
9. Own and develop data and audience frameworks, integration, and strategy with a behavioural science-led approach to paid media.
10. Ensure the team is delivering against best practice for PPC clients.
11. Present PPC expansion opportunities to clients for new channels.
12. Oversee and review the pipeline of PPC tasks to develop an account with fresh ideas.
13. Lead PPC in Quarterly Business Planning Meetings, annual, peak and any other meetings of this nature.
14. Own the direction of PPC testing, development & innovation roadmaps across all PPC clients.
15. Contribute and own parts of pitch strategy, deck and delivery.
Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive paid media strategies
1. Develop paid media strategies for growth.
2. Build business cases and forecasts to gain buy-in for paid media implementation.
3. Be the channel client lead in strategic discussions about how paid media can solve business challenges and drive marketing performance.
4. Share results and case studies back to the business.
5. Provide a robust foundation for an actionable strategy.
6. Produce enterprise level PPC strategies for our clients to deliver against objectives across the team.
Sales & Marketing: Contribute to agency new business development
1. Take a leading role with creating paid media thought leadership content.
2. Provide valuable research and insights for new business opportunities.
Client Servicing: Build positive and trusting relationships with clients to deliver on KPIs
1. Understand our clients’ business objectives and translate that into best-in-class bespoke paid media strategies.
2. Manage client relationships, to ensure our values are represented as part of the service provided, and raise any client issues to the Head of Paid Media where appropriate.
3. Monitor the allocation of client budgets through working with the Paid Media Managers.
4. Ensure all projects and retainers are completed maximising profit.
5. Create, analyse and communicate client strategy reporting.
6. Channel-specific escalation point for performance issues.
7. Manage and maintain key senior day-to-day client relationships.
Continuous Professional Development: Taking ownership of your own development
1. Excellent attention to detail with few amends from senior QA.
2. Complete Google Search, Shopping and SA360 exams annually.
3. Lead a PPC POV within the team and agency.
4. Be Google Analytics certified and keeping this up-to-date.

6. Seek out training opportunities to address gaps in knowledge and skills.

Your place in the agency and key relationships
1. Report to the Head of Paid Media, working closely with department efficiencies and quality of outputs.
2. Working with Paid Media team and Growth Management team members to ensure smooth delivery of client projects and retainers.
3. Supporting the Paid Media department as a whole, and Head of Paid Media, in executing client strategy.
