Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Manager (SHEQ Manager)
Waste/ Recycling Industry.
Salary £45,000- £55,000 basic
Based Manchester area with travel to other local Depots.

Established for over 20 years, my client is a well-established waste management and recycling company based in Manchester, offering commercial waste collection and waste disposal recycling throughout Lancashire, Manchester, Merseyside and East Cheshire. Boasting over a million collections throughout the NW, along with a recently upgraded modern MRF facility, a fleet of 30+ trucks and currently employs over 100 people.
Role:
Establish, maintain and enforce systems that deliver safety, environment and quality standards.
Promote a strong safety culture enforcing policies and acting as required.
This is a full time, on-site role for a SHEQ Manager based in the outskirts of Manchester.
You need to be a hands-on leader who is comfortable working both in the office and on site with travel to other local Depots
Responsibilities
* Manage the ISO accreditations for the Company
* Ensure the Management Systems database is maintained.
* Create Monthly Management Reports and Quarterly Board Reports.
* Ensure full SHEQ compliance through audits and regular inspections.
* Lead the Annual Management Review meetings.
* Completing Action Plans to improve safety across the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and Transport Operations (excluding Fleet).
* Manage supply chain documentation and compliance vetting.
* Act as Construction (Design and Management - CDM) point of contact for Construction and Maintenance activities.
* Ensure that staff training, compliance and certification requirements are in place and up to date.
* Overall responsibility for all staff PPE requirements
* Attend customer sites as required to ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Monitor Environmental Performance (especially noise, dust, and water courses).
* Ensure Waste Carriers and Destination Sites are properly permitted and that permits are held on file
* Manage and maintain SHEQ accreditations (including, but not limited to, Safe Contractors, ConstructionLine and PAS402)
* Organise and deliver routine toolbox talks.
* Support the Finance Director to build a positive case for insurance renewals with the aim of demonstrating reduced risk year on year. Ensure insurance certificates are recorded with a timely reminder prior to renewal.
* Ensure Fire Risk Assessments, LOLERS (not trucks), PSSR Inspections, PAT Testing, and Boiler Inspections are carried out across the sites.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
* 5 years’ experience in a front line HSE role
* Experience in developing and implementing safety and quality programs.
* Experience in conducting risk assessments and managing incident investigations.
* Experience in waste, manufacturing, or logistics context
* Production of Management and Board Reports
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
* TECH IOSH or higher
* NEBOSH Certificate
* Knowledge of ISO standards
Desirable
Waste industry legislation
Wamitab
KNOWLEDGE
Essential
* Waste Industry knowledge and / or Logistics and fleet experience.
* H&S Legislation
* Strong knowledge of safety, health environment and quality management systems
Additional Package Details:
* 20 days holiday plus all Bank Holiday. This increases each year by one day until they reach a maximum of 25 days.
