Emergency Department Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
Various shifts - Days and nights, including weekends and bank holidays.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join The Countess of Chester Emergency Department.
This post will require an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic leader with relevant Band 6 experience. The post holder will be expected to ensure the department is compliant with NHSE Emergency Medicine standards in order to provide safe and effective care to benefit our patients.
We are looking for a visible leader who will empower and support their team to deliver best practice and high quality, safe and efficient care to our acutely unwell patients.
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and professional advice to members of the multi-disciplinary team. They will also provide ongoing responsibility for the operational effectiveness of the Emergency Department.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of nursing and support staff on a shift basis. As well as being in charge of the department you will monitor quality, safety and high standards of patients care and ensure patient flow throughout the department. You will also lead a team of nurses and take responsibility for quality and safety initiatives in ED.

1. The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
2. Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
3. Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
