Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Medway Green School, Wouldham, Rochester, ME1 3TS
Salary: Up to £23,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:00
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
About The Role:
To supervise whole classes, so that any short-term absences of teachers are covered and teaching colleagues are able to carry out other professional duties and training. Cover Supervisors will give instructions for the lesson, as provided by the teacher, ensuring that the academic needs of the students are met, alongside their therapy and wellbeing needs. When not required to cover lessons, the role will include other duties, for example as a teaching assistant.
Main Responsibilities:
* Supervising students whilst they are engaged with a variety of activities which address their academic and therapeutic needs.
* Delivering lessons which are planned by teachers, whilst also having the ability and initiative to respond to the situation at the time, adapting planning where necessary.
* Delivering lessons to a high standard, creating an engaging and safe classroom atmosphere in order to learn.
* Being aware of student needs, by reading relevant documents such as pupil passports, IEPs, Boxall profiles, and EHCPs.
* Managing pupil behaviour in line with school policy.
* Promote the inclusion of all pupils within the classroom, following the school’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications Required:
* GCSE C/4 above English and Maths or equivalent.

Medway Green School is a special needs provision that provides for students whose SEMH/SEN needs have resulted in placement breakdown at their mainstream schools. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH students in Key stages 2-4, however within the next 2 years the provision will move to Key stages 3-4 only. Students will experience a personalised curriculum based on previous learning and identified needs. With a keen focus on therapy, education, and personal development, the school aims to help young pupils grow academically, socially, and emotionally to enable them to achieve success as they progress through life.
