DESCRIPTION
The UK Public Policy team works with a wide range of local, national, and supra-national policymakers, industry and non-governmental organisations, across policy issues in retail, consumer affairs, data and digital technology, media and the creative industries, economic development, sustainability, customer trust, transport and logistics.
We are looking for a highly-motivated, strategic, and detail-oriented individual to join our diverse and dynamic team. The role is based in our UK, London office. You will report to the team's Director.
Key job responsibilities
This role is integral in helping the UK Public Policy team's advocacy campaigns and communication strategies, building Amazon's profile and policy impact. It has a heavy focus on policy design, writing, research and analysis. As part of the role, you will project manage, and scale the systems and tools that enable the team to deliver effectively, facilitate the internal planning processes, track delivery of goals and improve the coordination and information sharing within the team and the broader International Public Policy function. You will also manage specific policy projects (e.g., consultation responses or externally commissioned research), and own or support the production of relevant policy content for high level external engagement and internal briefings, as well as events and offsites.
We are looking for an experienced policy professional who is passionate about the intersection between technology and policy, can navigate highly ambiguous environments with strong business judgement, work thoughtfully across global teams and time zones, and demonstrate enthusiasm and curiosity to learn and grow. The individual should be a self-starter, highly organized and able to communicate, adapt, and/or respond effectively and efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude and sense of humour, even under pressure, under a fast-paced, goal-focused work environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. BA/BS
2. Relevant public policy, advocacy, or campaign management experience, e.g. within corporate public policy and government relations, in public administration, trade association or non-governmental organisation
3. Ability to communicate fluently in the English language

1. Strong skills in using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform
2. Strong program management and organizational skills
3. Outstanding oral and interpersonal communication skills
4. Exceptional writing skills, from speeches to policy narratives to executive briefs
5. An advanced degree in area of study relevant to the role
6. A track record of highest integrity and public policy success
7. Ability to deliver messages intelligently, concisely, and in a way that facilitates earned trust
8. Ability to think critically, process data from multiple sources, forecast scenarios, prioritize based on probability and desired outcome, and recommend a best course of action
9. Agility and confidence in evolving situations and ability to swiftly transition from topic to topic
10. Exceptional time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands on your time
11. A self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results
12. Ability to coordinate a wide array of internal and external resources to obtain, process, and operationalise information and strategy
13. Strong judgment and decision-making skills
14. Experience working at high level and collaboratively in a highly-matrixed environment, alongside teams including Legal, PR, and business teams
15. Project management experience
