Join G4S as a Security Officer and you will become part of a well-trained, tight knit team providing an essential, security service to the branch.
Your primary duties will include:
1. Monitoring the CCTV systems and escalating security issues and liaising with all other departments and National Control Centre. Raising the alarm in the event of an attack.
2. Operation of switchboard when required.
3. Carry out any other duties that are deemed reasonable.
4. Be aware of health and safety issues and ensure all employees are able to work in a safe manner.
5. Undertake training activities as required.
6. Liaise with other departments, branches, customers and suppliers, as appropriate, to resolve issues and maintain security and service.
7. Control the entry and exit of vehicles, employees and visitors to, from and within the branch.
8. Ensure quality standards (5S) are consistently reviewed and adhered to.
9. Follow well-defined procedures to ensure the security of the buildings.
10. Responsible for branch security, monitoring all areas of the location and escalating issues immediately.
11. To carry out the opening and closing of the location (if applicable).
12. To carry out airport style searches.
13. To be trusted with some access control information.
14. You’ll also need to have a flexible approach to working hours (including weekends and bank holidays), being happy to adapt plans to meet changing circumstances.
15. Undertake other duties that may reasonably be assigned to you by your line manager or the business.
Pay starts at £11.53 per hour, rising to £11.83 after 6 months, rising to £12.13 after 12 months (plus £2.25 night allowance if applicable)
Person Specification
So what makes a successful Branch Security Officer?
1. Firstly, you will need to be confident in communicating at all levels in both written and spoken English.
2. You will need to be confident following specific procedures and instructions.
3. An appropriate level of numeracy is also very important.
4. You must also be able to work to tight deadlines.
5. Previous experience in monitoring and controlling security equipment would be extremely beneficial, as would experience using IT and computer systems.
6. You must also be willing to undertake shift work.
7. You will need to be able to work as part of a team player.
8. Finally, you must be continuously focused on providing a top notch service to our customers by being efficient, flexible and at all times security conscious.
