Job summary
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to be part of an integrated pilot looking to support children and their families to achieve a healthy weight and healthy lifestyles .
This is an exciting opportunity for someone that wants to make a real difference to our local communities. Barking and Dagenham has some big public health challenges, including the worst childhood obesity in London and lower life expectancy than the England average. We are one of the 20% most deprived boroughs in England and child poverty is amongst the highest in London boroughs and the country (with 46% of children living in households on the poverty line). WE also have the highest proportion of children aged 0-17 in the UK. However, it is also a borough of great change - there is so much going on in Barking and Dagenham, even Hollywood wants to be part of it!
Barking and Dagenham's latest National Childhood measurement programme (NCMP) results 2022 indicate that % of Children in Year R are overweight or obese, rising to % of children at year 6. These are the highest rates of obesity in England, and result in our children experiencing numerous health and wellbeing complications.
