SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunities for Special Needs School in Swindon
Are you looking for full or part-time work and interested in working in a special needs school in Swindon? We have opportunities where you would be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, with ages varying between primary and secondary.
The school caters to a wide variety of diagnoses typical of most special needs schools. Pupils can be as young as 4 up to the age of 19, focusing on developing not just the school curriculum but also social, emotional, and cognitive functions. The school supports students with autism, PMLD, and challenging behaviors. They widely use Makaton throughout the school, so knowledge of this form of sign language would be advantageous.
The school features great outdoor spaces, sensory rooms, and a swimming pool, along with a skills café for older students to learn vital life skills to better prepare them for working life.
We are looking for candidates who want to make a real and tangible difference to vulnerable young lives. If you are on the lookout for either full or part-time work, don't delay and get in touch today.
We are looking for:
1. People with experience in special needs, either from a school or care-based background.
2. Knowledge in Makaton or Signalong is desirable.
3. Individuals with a warm and patient disposition who enjoy working with young people with additional needs.
4. A flexible attitude and willingness to go where needed.
5. Any formal training or qualifications are desirable, but experience is what matters most.
6. An enhanced DBS on the update service; if you do not have one, you must be willing to apply for it.
