Post: Safeguarding Officer
Salary: Scale 5 - £29,109 - £31,296 (plus Weekend Work Enhancement)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Cleveland Police Force Area – location to be determined upon appointment (Safeguarding Officers are based at Middlesbrough police office, MACH Middlesbrough House, MACH Redcar – Daisy Lane, CHUB Hartlepool)
Do you have experience of risk management and safeguarding? Do you have high levels of integrity with the ability to manage work which is sensitive and linked to serious crime? Do you want to contribute to the work of a mutli-disciplined team in order to protect those who are vulnerable within our communities?
If the answer is yes to the above you may be interested in applying for the post of Safeguarding Officer. In this role you will identify and manage safeguarding issues and concerns, as well as supporting ongoing investigations, preparing reports and making referrals. Interrogation of Force Systems will be required to gather information, so the ability to research, collate and interpret data from a wide range of sources is essential.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience of working with partner agencies, whilst adhering to data protection legislation in the sharing of information. A methodical and logical approach to workloads is required in order to prioritise and meet competing deadlines. The ability to maintain confidentiality is imperative. Whilst not essential to the role, experience of dealing with victims would be advantageous as well as possessing practical experience of the National Decision Model.

This role will involve reading reports, statements and updating systems that may contain contents of an offensive and distressing nature. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a psychological assessment as part of the pre employment phase process.
