Description of role:
As the Head of Accounting and Financial Control, you will contribute to efforts to improve and enhance our internal and external reporting. This is a key value-add role to the organisation with a high level of visibility at a senior level. Your contributions include:
* Leading the Group reporting on a monthly basis for internal and external stakeholders.
* Managing Group audits and supporting internal departments in their external reporting requirements.
* Coaching and mentoring team members locally and internationally to strengthen the control environment.
* Building relationships with senior internal stakeholders, including the CEO and executive directors.
* Reporting to the Financial Director and supported by a senior finance team operating internationally.
Main responsibilities:
* Liaise with external financial auditors and assist with audit and accounting papers.
* Implement recommendations from auditors to improve the control environment.
* Prepare group consolidated accounts and related entity statutory accounts.
* Work with international finance teams to ensure timely audits and implement recommendations.
* Draft and shape accounting policies as required by changes in standards.
* Provide technical accounting advice on key transactions or changes in standards.
* Assist with tax queries from external advisors to finalize yearly corporation tax returns.
* Review UK VAT submissions quarterly.
* Oversee the month-end process and prepare monthly group reporting papers.
* Ensure integrity of data within the accounting system through control report reviews.
* Support cash flow management and ensure accurate reporting for treasury management.
* Support the development of an internal audit function within the Group.
* Guide the management accountant’s skillset and knowledge base.
* Assist with year-end audit and ad-hoc tasks or project work.
* Drive process improvements within the finance team.
Travel: This position may require regular travel both in the UK and abroad.
