Senior Structural Engineer / Associate Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience
My client is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer (or Associate Engineer) to join a dynamic and growing team based in a newly renovated office in central Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a small but ambitious team, with a range of projects in the industrial and retail sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage small to medium-sized structural projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
2. Take responsibility for technical calculations, design, and delivery across various structural projects, including refurbishments and new builds.
3. Collaborate closely with senior leadership and junior team members to provide technical expertise and mentorship.
4. Act as a bridge between senior management and junior staff, helping to drive project delivery and manage day-to-day tasks.
5. Support larger, high-profile projects, including supermarket frameworks, industrial builds, and retail developments.
6. Conduct site visits and investigations to provide solutions for refurbishment work and assess structural issues in existing buildings.
7. Ensure compliance with UK standards, codes of practice, and relevant regulations.
8. Manage client relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
About You:
1. A Chartered Engineer (CEng) or close to achieving this status, with at least 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
2. Strong technical competence in the design and delivery of structural projects, ideally in the industrial or retail sectors.
3. Experience with UK building standards, construction methods, and materials, particularly in the context of refurbishment and investigation work.
4. Ability to manage your own small projects and assist with larger, complex projects.
5. Strong communication skills, capable of managing client relationships and providing clear guidance to junior team members.
6. Highly motivated, with a willingness to take on responsibility and autonomy in your role.
7. A team player, able to collaborate and support a growing team in a positive and dynamic working environment.
What We Offer:
1. A flexible working environment, with a hybrid structure, although we would like to see you in the office as much as possible.
2. An exciting range of projects with variety, including large-scale industrial projects (e.g., automated systems for major global brands) and retail work for prominent UK supermarkets.
3. An excellent office location in central Sheffield, close to transport links, local amenities, and vibrant food hubs.
4. A supportive and friendly team culture, where your development is valued, and you will have the opportunity to progress towards a managerial or associate role.
5. Competitive salary and benefits package, including barista coffee and access to free prosecco and beer after 2pm.
If you're looking for a new challenge in a growing and supportive team with an excellent work-life balance, we want to hear from you!
