Job Title: Assistant Estimator - Groundworks

Our client is seeking a motivated Assistant Estimator to join their growing team, working on Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills in cost estimation and project management within the Housing, Commercial, and Industrial sectors.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the preparation of cost estimates and quantity take-offs for Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects.
2. Support the senior team in managing project finances, including the preparation of tender documents and tracking project costs.
3. Contribute to the measurement and valuation of work progress, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project plans.
4. Help manage the procurement of materials and resources, ensuring they meet project requirements.
5. Assist in the coordination of subcontractors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and high-quality delivery.
6. Act as a support link between the production team and clients, aiding in the communication of project details.
7. Participate in site meetings and contribute to discussions with client commercial teams.
8. Assist with subcontractor enquiries, quotations, and contract variations.
9. Help prepare project invoices and final accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
10. Support the development of client relationships by contributing to a high level of service and professionalism.
11. Proactively assist in identifying new tender opportunities to support business growth.
Requirements:
1. Some experience or knowledge in quantity surveying or cost estimation for Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects.
2. Ability to work collaboratively to help deliver projects on time and within budget.
3. Basic understanding of contract forms, such as JCT contracts, is a plus.
4. Familiarity with software like Excel and other project-related tools.
5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail.
6. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
7. Ability to manage workload efficiently and support both internal and external project requirements.
