About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people. This role involves working with children who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse, or who have learning disabilities, autism, or emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). Your role will be crucial in ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide emotional and practical support to children and young people in a safe and nurturing environment.
* Assist in developing independent living skills, education, and social engagement.
* Implement and follow care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
* Work closely with families, social workers, schools, and healthcare professionals.
* Support children with daily routines, including personal care, meal preparation, and bedtime routines.
* Encourage participation in recreational activities, hobbies, and community engagement.
* Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a trauma-informed way.
* Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed and report any concerns.
* Maintain accurate records and reports in line with legal and organisational requirements.
* Provide support during transitions, including foster placements, returning home, or moving to independence.
Requirements
* Experience working with children and young people in a support, residential, or care setting (preferred but not essential).
* A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
* Understanding of child safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and behaviour management.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.
* NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People’s Workforce, Health & Social Care, or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
* A valid UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
* Right to work in the UK.
