We are currently looking to recruit a Residential Conveyancing Assistant or CILEX Legal Executive to support the Residential Conveyancing team in Durham, offering remote support to the team in Penrith. Where will you be based? This role will be based in our Durham office, but we may expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time. How many hours will you be working? This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with an hour break for lunch. However at EMG Solicitors we work flexibly, it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients. A brief overview of the role: This role works within the Residential Conveyancing department with the conveyancers and conveyancing assistants on all administrative duties. The main responsibilities of the role include assisting Conveyancers in the management of caseload through dealing with file related queries, either face to face or by telephone and assist in the process of matters on a timely and cost effective basis. About the Role Getting paid for the work you do. You will be supporting Conveyancers in the maintenance of purchase, sales, remortgages, transfer of equity (both freehold and leasehold) files by effective file management. Ensuring clients are kept up to date and dealt with efficiently is an important part of your role and ensuring the appropriate legal matters are raised with the Conveyancer. You will answer incoming calls, take instructions, conduct letter and telephone enquiries as necessary and follow through any actions where required. You will provide full support to the fee earners - collating, sending and checking documentation to all parties involved in transactions. Using the correct Practice procedures and systems is essential so you can manage cases effectively and in accordance with the firm's standards and legal requirements. You will ensure our clients and referrers receive the best possible service at all times. You'll look to cross sell services from other departments in the firm by identifying the appropriate opportunities. Dealing with incoming and outgoing post for the department, ensuring we have all documentation received from various parties involved in transactions. Verifying our clients identification in accordance with our Money Laundering policy will be an important part of your role. About the Role To be able to perform this job you will need. CILEX or Licensed Conveyancer qualification is preferred. Experience of working within the residential property sector (mortgage broker, IFA, estate agents) is essential. You will need strong typing skills and be able to use Microsoft systems competently including Excel and Word. As well as have an understanding of email systems, portals and other IT as appropriate. A good standard of education is required, including good spoken and written English skills. Previous experience working within a busy administrative function, particularly within a legal conveyancing department or in a similar property related role would be desirable. You will need to be able to work well individually as well as part of a team. Ensuring that the firms procedures are always adhered to and followed, respecting client confidentiality at all times. You will need to be well motivated, demonstrate initiative and have a positive attitude. Along with having the confidence to inform the team leader of any serious problems you could encounter.
