The job itself
Term time 10 hours
Monday to Friday 6.45am to 7.45am and 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
School holidays 19 hours
Monday to Friday 4.30pm to 5.30pm plus additional hours to be arranged with parents for activities with child.
Support worker required for a 14-year-old boy with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, epilepsy, who is fed by gastrostomy and will need support with personal care. This training can be provided.
This young person is happy and communicates with sounds, gestures, and some Makaton. They enjoy spending time with people and use a wheelchair for getting out and about.
The ideal applicant will support with care needs and favourite pastimes which include people-watching whilst out and about, trains, reading books and swimming, along with a love of music and nursery rhymes, and going to a youth group which the applicant will also need to support with attendance.
Suitable candidates will:
1. Have knowledge of working with children, preferably with some SEND experience, although this is not essential.
2. Be approachable and proactive and confident in working with young people.
