The Salisbury children's physiotherapy team are seeking a new lead for our neonatal and neurodevelopmental provision. The successful applicant will also hold leadership of our children's physiotherapy team with the service and structure currently under review.
We require an experienced children's physiotherapist to lead and develop our specialist provision to neonates within our neonatal multidisciplinary team. The neonatal MDT values the physiotherapy service for delivery of developmentally informed care to enhance the quality of life for high-risk infants. The post holder will work within the Thames Valley and Wessex Neonatal ODN. They will need a strong interest in quality improvement, audit and research.
Responsibilities:
1. Take the lead physiotherapy role in the provision and ongoing development within our Local Neonatal Unit (LNU).
2. Lead the Children’s Physiotherapy team, including supervision of team members and support the day-to-day outpatient and inpatient physiotherapy provision, working alongside the paediatric physiotherapy service lead and wider MDT.
3. Provide specialist assessment, treatment and parent/carer/MDT education for babies/young children within the neonatal service including inpatient care and outpatient screening/follow up.
4. Lead the provision of the physiotherapy service for babies/young children with neurodevelopmental concerns, providing assessment and treatment to support their diagnosis and/or early development.
5. Assess and treat patients using specialist skills.
6. Use teaching and communication skills to develop parent/carers understanding and abilities to deliver effective physiotherapy and developmental care.
7. Maintain general paediatric physiotherapy knowledge and experience to support the delivery of care to our population of children and young people by the whole team.
